Vietnam day #1 (destination #2) - Ho Chi Minh complex and one pillar pagoda, Hanoi

Selepas dari kuil literatur, kami menuju Ho Chi Minh kompleks. Hujan semakin deras.
Departing from Literature Temple, we are heading Ho Chi Minch complex. The rain is getting heavier. Upon arriving at Ho Chi Minh complex, our group had a chance to have a group photo in front of the building which reminds me so much of Lincoln Memorial building in Washington DC with the street leading to the building forming a strong axis.

Unfortunately after the photo group the rain is even getting heavier that our group is faced with the choices to go back to the bus or insist to walk around the Ho Chi Minh complex in wet. Although we have umbrella, we think that it wouldn't be comfortable to walk under the heavy rain for 1 hour, thus the majority voted to go back to the bus.

Ho Chi Minh complex consists of few areas like Ho Chi Minch Mausoleum, Presidential Palace and Ho Chi Minh's residence, One pillar pagoda and Ho Chi Minh museum. Ho Chi Minh is the name of the first president of Vietnam. He is well known for his simple lifestyle and love his people. His simple lifestyle is portrayed by his decision to only have 3 pcs of cloth during his life. He stays single until the end of his life devoting his life for his people.

When he pass away, Ho Chi Minh asked that his body is to be cremated & the ashes to be buried partial on North of Vietnam and another part on South of Vietnam. However, due to the request from the Vietnamese people who love him, they decided to embalmed his body.

I was a bit disappointed, because I am so curious to see Ho Chi Minh's embalmed body. I have never seen any embalmed body before, so I am quite curious to see what's the embalmed body looked like?

Before we went back to the bus, we had time to visit the One Pillar Pagoda. (VietnameseChùa Một Cột). The temple was built by Emperor Lý Thái Tô, According to the story, Lý Thái Tô was childless and dreamt that he met a god, who handed him a baby son while seated on a lotus flower. Lý Thái Tông then married and had a son. The emperor constructed the temple in gratitude for this by erecting a pillar in the middle of a lotus pond, similar to the one he saw in the dream.
